There are 7,043,847,695 people in the world at this time and that number is growing every second; not a single person alike and no one like me. Who am I? That is a difficult question for anyone to answer. Of course, we all know who we are, but how can it be defined? The person I am today is defined by my past, present and future.             I believe the people you are surrounded by are a big part of shaping the person you are. As children, we look up to our parents to take care of us and teach us right from wrong. Since we learn from our parents, we are a lot like them. One of my dad’s favorite stories about me is from 3rd grade. I was a huge fan of making jewelry with beads, and for my birthday I got a kit that consisted of at least 1,000 beads. One day, my dad and I had just gotten home and I was carrying my kit with me. He asked me to do something I didn’t want to do, and I got so upset that I just threw my bead kit. There were beads everywhere. At that point I realized I was a lot like him: stubborn. To teach me a lesson, I had to pick up every single bead. I have managed to control my temper since then, but I’m still stubborn. My parents are the most important people in my life. I can always look to them for support and I have learned many lessons from them. I hope to become a mom and do as great a job as they have for me for my own child or children. My entire childhood consisted of attending a Catholic school, St. Agnes, where I learned a lot about God and a lot about myself.  St. Agnes was a part of my life for nine years, kindergarten till graduation in 8th grade. I spent those years with the same group of friends, which didn’t allow for a lot of growth. We only had each other, which almost forced us all to have the same interests. By 8th grade year we were a family; all 15 kids from that class are like my brothers and sisters. We grew up and learned from each other, but it was time to move on and venture into high school, where we met new friends and slowly drifted apart.  A small school is a lot like a small town, with all the same advantages and disadvantages. When I moved on to high school that’s when my real transformation began and I realized all the things I was missing. My first year of high school was rough: new girl in a new school and a new town who knew no one but the one friend, Hailey Wilson, who came with me from St. Agnes. I never saw Hailey during the school year, which left me on my own to make new friends. I have always been the shy girl and being thrown into a new environment scared me. It was hard for me to talk to new people, and no one talked to me.  I think it was easy for people not to like me because they took my shyness as being arrogant. At that point I just wanted to run back to my life at St. Agnes. I missed the simplicity and closeness, where I was accepted for who I was. Eventually, I broke out of my skin and made new friends. They aren’t at all like me; they’re loud and social. However, the more I spent time with them, the more they grew on me and the more I became like them, and I liked that about me. I have always been the kind of girl that preferred a small group of friends. Throughout high school I stayed close with my friends from freshman year, but I also broke out and made other friends from other schools. I became a social butterfly, but I didn’t let that affect my education. My future is important; school comes first. Surprisingly, I find time to balance school, soccer, work, and my social life. I am dedicated to everything I do because I grow and learn from it. I have been playing soccer since 2nd grade and it has taught me how to work with people. No one can do everything on their own, you need people to fall back on and help you out, like a teammate.  I am currently employed at Tazinos, which is a pizza buffet. Although I don’t plan on pursuing a career in the food industry, working there has given me a lot of experience with multitasking, talking to strangers, and working with other people that I will use for my career.             My plans for the future are to attend college, become a physical therapist, get married, and raise a family. Plans change, but I am willing to take risks and go with what life will give me. I want to influence other people’s lives for the better, like the people in my life have. My life has a purpose and I can’t wait for what is next.             Growing up is a learning experience. I discovered who I was as I grew up.  I started out as being a replica of my parents because they were who I was around when I was little. Then as I started to attend school I was in a close knit group of kids that all seemed to be the same.  High school gave me my main learning experience of who I was, and I eventually became myself. But, that will continue to change as I have new experiences. I made my own choices and set my own goals. In the future I will discover new things about myself and truly become the person that I am meant to be.
