Forensics is the performance club here at MFHS. Whether you're interested in acting, public speaking, interpretive reading, or even broadcasting, this is the club for you. Even if you are not great at speaking in front of others right now, Forensics can help you to become more comfortable in situations that require performance. You have a number of categories to choose from, so all students can find categories they will enjoy. Forensics is kind of a sport and kind of an academic activity. We compete against other teams and team members can earn letters, but it's not all about physical ability. Rather, students mix intellectual ability with the physical in order to create memorable performances. Forensics will help you improve on important public speaking skills, while also getting you involved in a school activity. Yes, it looks good on college applications, but you'll also do well in a college interview based on your experience in the club. Categories include poetry and prose reading, serious and comedic acting, and many kinds of speeches and broadcasts. Everyone participates and competes in Forensics, and while one goal is to win, the main goal is to improve. The season runs from early January to April, and meets are most Saturdays during that time. If you're interested, please see Mr. Jaeger in Room 144 or Miss Ernst in her room. |
