English 10 Persuasive Speech from Essay 100 Points (prorated) Now that you have a persuasive essay written, you can turn it into a persuasive speech by adding some of the elements we have discussed in class. The speech should be 3-7 minutes long and MUST include at least TEN of the elements we have been seeing in the great speeches in American history (and that we’ve discussed). The content of the speech will be evaluated based on:
___REPETITION ___SYMBOLISM ___ALLUSION (religious, political, to cultural literacy) ___TESTIMONY (sources) ___IF / THEN (CAUSE / EFFECT) ___NOT THIS / BUT THAT ___METAPHOR ___AKNOWLEDGEMENT OF AUDIENCE ___ASKING FOR – ACTION ___ASKING FOR – WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE ___ASKING FOR – SUPPORT ___A SOLUTION ___URGENCY ___ANECDOTE ___ILLUSTATION ___EXAMPLE ___FACTS ___STATISTICS ___ DEFINITIONS ___ other from definitions _________________________________________________ Your persuasive essay is not required to have all of the elements above, so be sure to add some if necessary. Either turn in written speech with elements identified or identify them before/after speech for class. |
